What is the aspect ratio of the screen?

When you buy a device with any screen like a TV, smartphone, the aspect ratio of the screen is given in the description. But not many people really know what an aspect ratio is.

Today we are telling you about the aspect ratio easily. In fact, the aspect ratio is the ratio of the length and width of the screen.

It describes the size of the screen. The ratio found in most laptops and televisions today is 16: 9. But depending on the device, their units vary in centimeters, inches, and millimeters.

From 2004 to 2007, the resolution of the TVs we watched in our homes used to be SD, i.e. the standard definition. The screen used to have an aspect ratio of 4: 3.

This meant a width of four inches and a height of three inches. As the technology of devices, screens, pixels, and resolutions have been updated recently, the aspect ratio has now reached 16: 9.

Lately, flower view mobiles have come into the market. Its aspect ratio has reached 18: 9.

In this new aspect ratio, the width looks bigger while its length is exactly half. LG started trading at 18: 9.

You may be wondering why the width was kept the same by increasing the length of the phone? The reason behind this is that companies want to make the screen bigger.

For that, increase the length of the screen. But they keep the width the same so that it is not difficult to hold the phone.

The main purpose of increasing the aspect ratio is to increase the display size of the phone by making it fit in the hand. Not only the size of the screen but also the pixels on the display are always in the same ratio of aspect ratio.
