how to clean android phone storage

 If you don't have a lot of storage space on your Android phone, you have been working hard for a long time to clear the space by removing old files and data. But Google's File app will make the process easier now.

Some Android phones already have the Files app installed. The feature that makes it different from other file managers is its cleaning recommendations. This app identifies what needs to be removed to free up your phone's storage.

First, you need to install the File by Google app for your phone. If you are using this app for the first time, agree to Google's terms. Then click Continue to proceed.

Then in the permissions popup to give access to your file app.

After doing so, tap on 'Clean' at the bottom to free up your storage space.

Tap "Clean."

At the top of the page, you can see how much storage your device has used.

Below that, Google will automatically suggest to you some files, which you can delete to free up space. Such as screenshots, duplicate files, and photos that are already backed up to Google Photos.

Each of the categories below has three possible buttons and all of them have different activities.

1. "Confirm and Free Up (X) MB": X means the amount of space. Tap this to open the popup and clean the file without reviewing. It contains useless files and data that occupy space on your device.

2. "Select and free up (X) MB": X means the amount of space. Tap on it and jump directly to the review screen where you can select and delete the file you want.

3. "Free of (X) MB": X means the amount of space. This is especially true for Google Photos. Google suggests deleting your backed-up photos. Go to the Google Photos app by tapping on it and from there you can free up space.

For example, you can tap "Select and Free Up (X) MB" and select and delete the files you don't want.

We can easily see that Google has suggested deleting the file. In the duplicate file category, the original files are indicated by a bookmark icon in the lower-left corner.

Select the files you don't want and tap Delete.

If you have also selected the original files in the duplicate file, you are given the option to confirm it once.
